BIOGRAPHY

Since been selected for the 83rd National Exhibition (New National Art Museum, Tokyo, 2009), I have been working with paintings as a source of emergence of unspeakable space. My paintings, characterized by fluid lines and mysterious colors, are based on a cross-disciplinary reflection on space, time, and existence. I consider painting as a metaphysical inquiry into the question of what existence is, while in parallel I explore experimental drawing methods from an optical perspective on virtual reality simulations.

STATEMENT

In the pictorial space, the individuality and forms of something as it “exists” are not presented, but the subjective qualities that the object or natural phenomenon has generated in our minds through its action on our sense organs are emerging in a pluralistic sense. I do not apply lines to suggest the relationship between objects in the physical world or the configuration of space, but rather place ambiguous and amorphous forms to merge with colored surfaces made from pigments.
