BIOGRAPHY
As a child I lived on the north east coast of England and from a young age I was aware of the boundlessness and flux of the sea.
The movement of waves, the play of light and the rush of wind. These elemental feelings are all captive energies in my paintings – the forces of nature that are never still.
I work with oil paint and raw pigment on linen and canvas, often at large scale. I love colour and the waywardness of paint itself.

STATEMENT
I use oil paint and pigments in thin, layered washes to express ideas about mutability and fragility. My paintings are full of narrative fragments and suggestions. Everything is open – the poet, Louise Gluck describes the sensation of “harnessing the power of the unfinished”. Space is as powerful as the object in my work.
