Sikiu Mendez Samelnik is an independent artist, born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela. At 17 years old, she moved to Miami, Florida, where she currently resides.
Ever since she was a kid, she has been fascinated with textures, straight lines, and geometrical shapes. She recalls her grandfather’s passion about painting and sculptures who encouraged her love for fine art.

STATEMENT
I pride myself on creating content that lives at the intersection of art and design, combining a myriad of textures juxtaposed with contrasting materials. I use acrylic as a base for media as varied as plaster, concrete, recycled materials, and aluminum wire mesh to create rough and uneven images with a sense of movement.
Nothing brings me more joy than showing my two kids how art really connects you to other people’s feelings.
