BIOGRAPHY
Shumaiya Khan is a painter, writer and creative; whom resumed her art practise April 2020. Specialising in contemporary abstract expressionism via use of acrylic and charcoal. Khan runs her own arthouse studio ‘’701”, working as Creative Director on branding & performance projects alongside her fine art practise. The space hosts regular open studios for collectors. Khan currently works with galleries across London and Europe.
Khan’s practice explores juxtapositions around emotive behaviours in the sphere of; what it means to be feminine, occurrence of coercion & control, and the fragility & restless motions of life. The commentary which takes place upon viewing should provoke deeper feelings on our own temporary nature. Understanding one’s self and the resilience we harbour.
