BIOGRAPHY
Sezin Aksoy studied Business Administration with double majors and double minors and graduated in 2003 from Bryant College, today known as Bryant University in Rhode Island, USA. She changed her career a year later and studied Fine Arts in School of Museum of Fine Arts, Boston in Massachusetts, USA. Today known as SMFA at Tufts University. She graduated with Post Baccalaurate degree and finished four years Diploma Programme in a year in 2007. She moved to Istanbul, Turkey after her graduation and given four solo shows and attended several group exhibitions as a multimedia artist. She is a Fine Arts painter and performance artist but known with her installations at her solo exhibitions. Aksoy has also written two books, one in English called Rebirth Within My Heart in 2012 and another in Turkish called B333 Transpersonal for her solo exhibition in 2019. She is based in SW London and also Turkey.

STATEMENT
As an artist, the main focus of Sezin Aksoy’s art is to focus on change in life, what is called ‘trans’ in the means of spirituality, form, space and mind of modern humans as we live in the inpermenance of time of modern world.
In her last series of work, Transit, Sezin is concerned about the modern society’s need to neuteralize duality of emotions under the pressure of time and space by studying the traditional spiritual quests in Shamanism to present them a tranquil environment of true nature. In her small size paintings in Transit series, she is studying the cramped limited cosmopolitan space, where humans forget their true reality and humans’ need of connecting with nature and its healing forces. However, by creating a unique space within nature’s spirit through traditional quests; modern society may remember balance, peace and harmony of one’s true self transformation. Her use of empty space and cut out images reminds us how humans are cut out from nature itself in modern society and how much colors, ligts and natures healing energy that they need in order to survive. The images are reminding us todays advertisements, pop culture in a sense to motivate the gazer to stop and think about lifes emptiness in itself.
