BIOGRAPHY
Ryuta Shishikura has loved foreign films since he was a child. He is particularly fond of the works of Martin Scorsese, Woody Allen, David Linley, David Cronenberg, Brian De Palma, and John Carpenter.Working in the film industry himself, he has seen the difficulties of creating works that have artistic freedom. That’s when I came across urushi and Samurai Yoroi.Life was like a walking with dog. You never know what you’re gonna walk.He discovered Samurai Armor and Urushi when he met Samurai armorsmith while walking with his Jack Russell terrier, James. This led to the creation of his own remakes of real armor and paintings using urushi, which are unique to him in the world. Each of his works has a cinematic story behind it, and he has the ambition to make his own films with the money he makes and sells, so these works are just the beginning for him.
