BIOGRAPHY

Rick Lundsten has been painting for over 35 years. He developed an interest at an early age. This was nurtured by supportive parents and a wonderful high school art teacher. Hailing from Minnesota “The Land of 10,000 Lakes”, he has had a life- long love for water and nautical images. Painting lighthouses, ships, boats, and scenic water themes became a passion. Over the years, Rick has continued to develop and grow as an artist, gaining notoriety in several regional, national, and international shows. He draws his energy and inspiration through a strong work ethic, attention to detail and most importantly, his faith. He aspires to continue to develop his work as long as time and ability allow. Rick is motivated to always do better than one artist in particular-himself. As he grows and develops, he hopes that those who follow and admire his work will also grow and develop. His desire is to inspire.

STATEMENT

I am from the upper Midwest of the U.S. A lifelong resident of northern Minnesota, I have always been around water. I am more specifically from the lake region and have lived near the headwaters of the Mississippi River all of my life. I also live a short distance from Lake Superior. All of these factors have shaped me as an artist. I love to paint realistic scenes of rivers. lakes, boats, ships and lighthouses.

I continue to aspire to develop my style and technique in the watercolor/gouache medium to more accurately portray the intricacies of water in multiple settings and moods, as well as the crafts, structures and stories that are interwoven with water.
