BIOGRAPHY

Meeyoung Nam explores the visual fusion and connection beyond boundaries by artistically distributing golf, flowers, birds, and objects with the motif of Chosun folding screens, reflecting the artistic pursuit of their ancestors and moving towards the future while viewing the Chosun folding screen exhibition.
In addition, she seeks the sweetness, beauty, and pleasure of everyday life, but she never forgets Vanitas and Memento Mori in fullness, like Dutch artists of 17th.

STATEMENT

When I first started working on ice cream, the shape was ice cream, and the expression underlying it was an ice cream work that introduced abstract expressionist techniques.
Since then, it has evolved and changed in various ways.
In preparation for this exhibition, I was able to express my inner freedom by using Jackson Pollock’s drip or action painting, a master of abstract expressionism.
Expanding on my ice cream work – the running ice cream car, the carousel, evokes our fragmented childhood memories and takes us back to the joyful childhood.
The endlessly moving carousel seems to be the perfect technique to represent speed through dripping.
Pollock’s works appear to be chaotic patterns from a distance, but up close, the diverse and unique patterns harmonize with each other. Conversely, the paintings of the artist appear to be one beautiful form from a distance, but up close they are a complex, chaotic pattern of horizontal lines.
When dribbling, I dipped the stick into the paint and lifted it up, creating a continuous stream of water that ran down the canvas, moving my arm at different speeds to control the amount of coiling.
Ironically, Pollock was killed in an automobile accident, and in Pollock’s way, I painted a speedy car, pursuing nature in its natural form.
I would like to pay tribute to the greatness of Pollock’s work.
