BIOGRAPHY
Physicality is something I value above all else when creating my artwork. This is because, influenced by my mother, who was an artist, I was surrounded by paintings from a young age, and I was also passionate about ballet. I chose these two things simultaneously and have been working on them seriously. Painting and physicality have been my long-standing and eternal themes.
After graduating from art school, I held solo exhibitions in Tokyo and Sapporo, and after turning 40, I began participating in open exhibitions and competitions. I have been running and teaching art classes for 25 years. Working with many children has deepened and broadened my approach to art.
My husband was originally an indie film director, and we now work together on installations. His approach to form and space has given me new perspectives.

STATEMENT
My paintings are influenced by the dancing, which I have been doing continuously since childhood. Using the body as a motif and expressing movement, I create work that inspires imagination and evokes movement within the painting.
For me, painting is also a form of my physical expression; I feel as if the body in the painting and I are moving together. Creating a painting from a mental vision of movement feels like choreographing a dance piece.
