BIOGRAPHY

Letizia Kutscher is a New-York based artist using oils in a traditional manner on canvas and wood. She grew up in London, with an Italian and Austrian background. Her Italian culture has strongly influenced her work due to her instant fascination for Renaissance art, primarily its focus on the body, portraiture and anatomy. Living in New York has helped her contextualise her works in a contemporary setting, shifting from a focus in classic portraiture to her current series of anatomy, an ode to life and celebration post death.

CV

I completed my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at Parsons School of Design in 2022, graduating with an Academic Honours and attending on a Dean’s List Scholarship. I took part in two group shows at All Street Gallery in March and April, and a solo show at the end of May. I took part in a group show for Miami Art Basel Week 2022 at Moloko Miami. In June 2023, I participated in a Residency programme at School of Visual Arts NYC.

STATEMENT

I am a New-York based artist with a focus on traditional oil painting on canvas and wood. I paint primarily figuratively, studying skin, flesh, and bones. My current series stems from the concept of memento mori. I am shifting the emphasis of memento mori to one that is celebrating life from the vantage point of death.
