ARTSPER

BIOGRAPHY

Julia Moniewski was born in Poland. After secondary school for art, she studied architecture and turned to art at the same time. Since 2010, Moniewski has been living in Switzerland and working as a freelance artist. She combines painting with drawing, adding accents with charcoal after paint. By combining the expressiveness of her works with the abstraction of forms, Moniewski has developed her own style of painting. A central aspect in her work is the theme of identity. “The dialogue between my soul and the world around me is a kind of search for my own identity,” Moniewski explains.

STATEMENT

A central aspect in her work is the theme of identity. She usually completely omits the faces of her main actresses in order to hide their identities. Anyone can identify with the feelings and moods Moniewski presents. “For me, women are a source of beauty, tenderness and sensitivity. Although they are considered fragile beings, inside they are very strong and resilient”- Moniewski says.s
