BIOGRAPHY
Judith Solares is a B.Arch student turned expressionist painter who enjoys action painting. She is a self-taught artist and has created art in various styles throughout her life. While she occasionally paints realism, she is more drawn to abstract forms. Her art communicates what cannot be illustrated using conventional language. Because Judith is a self-taught artist, her approach to art is often non-traditional. This allows her to pull away from the “rules” of art. She can be described as whimsical and eccentric (nonconforming, creative, strongly motivated by curiosity and outspoken). She uses her emotions to influence and inspire her work and choice of medium. Judith uses art to ground herself in a world that is fast paced and demanding.

STATEMENT
Judith Solares is a dynamic artist whose creative journey has been marked by a unique fusion of architectural influences and a passionate commitment to the world of art. After dedicating years to architectural schooling, she made the bold decision to redirect her creative energy solely into the realm of visual expression, a choice that has defined her distinctive abstract expressionist style.
While her architectural studies offered a profound understanding of structure, space, and form, Judy’s heart was always drawn to the limitless possibilities of art. She embraced her innate artistic spirit and embarked on a transformative journey, a path that has allowed her to transcend the confines of architectural conventions and explore the boundless landscapes of her imagination.
Judith’s artistic identity is deeply rooted in her fascination with two prominent architectural movements: Bauhaus and Brutalism. The Bauhaus school’s emphasis on minimalism, geometry, and the integration of art and design resonated deeply with her sensibilities, while Brutalism’s raw and bold aesthetic left an indelible mark on her creative vision. These architectural influences have seamlessly blended into her abstract expressionist style, resulting in a body of work that is both visually striking and conceptually profound.
For the past eight years, Judith has been passionately committed to her artistic practice, specializing in acrylics and mixed media on canvas. Her canvas becomes a portal into a world where emotions, colors, and forms converge in a harmonious dance. Each brushstroke is an expression of her innermost thoughts, a visual representation of the moods, energies, and narratives that inspire her.
In her works, viewers can discern the echoes of architectural elements, where bold geometric shapes, intricate textures, and a juxtaposition of light and shadow converge to create a sense of dynamic equilibrium. Her art is a testament to her relentless exploration of the spatial, the tactile, and the emotional dimensions of the human experience. We are thus invited to explore the uncharted territory where the rationality of architecture meets the abstract spontaneity of emotion.
Ms. Solares’ journey, which began at the crossroads of architecture and art, has evolved into a powerful testament to the transformative power of following one’s creative calling. As she forges ahead, Judith’s work remains a vibrant testament to her unwavering commitment to the realm of art, where three dimensional structures continue to inform her ever-evolving vision.
