BIOGRAPHY
Gabriela, a self-taught artist originally from Guadalajara, Mexico, has a deep interest in exploring the materiality of art through the
superimposition of amorphous plasters of color and pigment. She believes that intuition is the only indispensable material in her
creative process.
With a background in interior design and communication, Gabriela’s artistic journey has been enriched by her experience as a
children’s muralist and her mastery of various artistic disciplines such as ceramics, acrylic, oil, and watercolor. This diverse skill set
allows her to freely navigate between techniques, formats, scales, and materials, opening up a world of infinite possibilities and
directions for her work.

STATEMENT
Unburdened by intellectual or communicative pretensions, Gabriela seeks to create a realm of complete calm and tranquility
through her art, where her creations exist and hold meaning in and of themselves. Her exploration of art often results in
compositions that defy the mainstream tendency to over-intellectualize artistic expression.
Starting from her personal concerns and essence, Gabriela’s purpose is to connect with the viewer from a natural and disinterested
space, stimulating the senses and evoking diverse and open-ended interpretations through the experience of her artwork in relation
to a given space.
Layers and transparencies are recurring elements in Gabriela’s pieces, as are spontaneous scratches and the repetition of dots and
lines on certain occasions. These elements represent a complex network of experiences, personality traits, learning, interests, and
other aspects that define a person at a specific moment in time and space. Just as the stains, scratches, and repetitive elements in
her art reflect the fleeting attitudes and nonsensical moments
