BIOGRAPHY

Trained in Business Management and Administration, after twelve years in the advertising and digital marketing sector and having achieved great success in the business world, Eva decided to leave to begin a career in the field of ceramics. Although she was unfamiliar with this world, her interest in crafts and her capacity for learning were her main allies in entering the sector and learning different techniques, handling and understanding the particularities of the materials she worked with. Despite her long and solid career in the world of crafts being a success, Eva decided to embark on a new path (in Spanish “Camino”), this time within the world of art with her creations of framed ceramics and vases that combine knowledge and excellent treatment of raw materials, the serene beauty of the artistic object, the polished final design, and painting. In this sense, ceramics can be understood as the canvas from which to create the artistic piece, where other types of materials such as sand, pumice stone, or gold and silver leaf, in addition to acrylic paint, have a place. Her interest in experimenting with new possibilities within the world of abstract painting hasn’t made her forget ceramics, which are the essence of her identity, first as a craftswoman and now as an artist. The journey to reach maturity has been forged by complex changes, ups and downs and dilemmas, while also proposing itself as a path of self-knowledge, personal exploration and learning. After almost ten years of treating ceramics as a craft through her tableware and other functional pieces, she abandons the characteristic of utility to focus on treating ceramics as an object of art and design. This Path is an allusion to her life journey, which she describes as long, but in which, after a spiritual experience of great relevance and transcendence for her at the beginning of 2024, she has found peace in her new creations that emanate harmony in the forms, colors and textures of nature, as well as consonance with the spirit of the Japanese voices of wabi sabi and henko and the concept of the impulse of gesture so characteristic of abstract expressionist painting. This new direction in her life and this profound transformation in her way of understanding art is reflected in her proposals. The concept of henko, which refers to a transcendental change from which there is no return or return to the initial state, is related to his life experience, this conversion being a transformation of his character and artistic attitude.

STATEMENT

Eva Camino is a collection of paths whose footprints evoke the imperfect
imprint of our soul’s steps, both in the earthly and spiritual realms, and how
light is the principal element of harmony and beauty shared between both
dimensions.
