BIOGRAPHY
I’m Laura Diz Chaves, an Argentine visual artist based in Mexico for the past 22 years. I studied Fine Arts and have been dedicated to art for over 25 years.
I’ve worked at the Rufino Tamayo Museum, in my personal studio, and in other institutions. I’ve exhibited in Barcelona, Buenos Aires, Lisbon, and Brazil.
My works are part of private collections in Chicago and California.
For many years, my work was more figurative. I focused extensively on the human figure and live models. I experimented with various techniques, and I currently
continue working primarily with oil paint and drawing. I’m deeply passionate about Nature, and I’m currently presenting it through twodifferent lenses.
The origin of my work lies in a sense of wonder that arises from observing Nature. From that wonder, ideas emerge—creations and births that unfold through a
natural and inevitable process of creation. In the Naturaleza (Nature) series, which is monochromatic, I work with noble materials such as charcoal, graphite, pastels, and inks.
The support I use is paper—a medium that requires careful, meticulous, and delicate work, as its fragility allows little room for error. Through this medium, I immerse myself in the work, generating forms and volumes that evolve into subtlety—inviting the viewer to enter and explore them.
