BIOGRAPHY
Cecilia Carrera, originally from Monterrey, Mexico, now based in Texas, is a multi-talented artist with a lifelong dedication to artistic expression. From an early age, she immersed herself in poetry, literature, art, and dance. Guided by the mentorship of her great-grandmother and early art classes that nurtured her innate talent and passion, Cecilia specializes in oil painting. Cecilia experiences profound feelings and emotions that occasionally lend her a detached perspective on the world, finding solace and expression primarily through art. It serves as her medium for interpreting daily experiences and human behavior. Cecilia’s current artistic focus is on her oil painting series “Soul Portraits.” The series, seeing its first two pieces exhibited at GALERIA AZUR MIAMI, aims to comprise 10 to 15 oil paintings depicting the human soul in diverse emotional states and situations.

STATEMENT
With a background in law, a keen interest in the human psyche, and influenced by surrealism and geometric abstraction, I strive to create works that resonate on both an emotional and intellectual level by integrating research to poetically depict human behavior in my art. My creative process is ignited by dreams, memories, and everyday interactions. When I paint from deep inspiration and a rich palette, my conscious mind surrenders, allowing my soul to flow freely onto the canvas.
