BIOGRAPHY
Born in Berlin in 1979, Caroline Phillips, is a versatile artist now residing in New Hampshire.
My creative pursuits range from photography and acrylic painting to digital art. Berlin’s art scene influenced me greatly, but a serious accident at age 19 ignited my passion for art, which became a therapeutic outlet during recovery.
In 2001, following my marriage to an American, we moved to Oxford, England. There, I balanced motherhood and teaching German and French, first at Brooks University and later for the British government. In 2007, we relocated to Annapolis, Maryland, where I worked for various language agencies, including the Foreign Service Institute.
By 2015, I sought change, moving to New Hampshire’s beautiful Lakes Region with my children. There, while teaching at Plymouth State University and Holderness school , I discovered fresh inspiration. In 2016, my partner Joe Galea and I founded “LingualMuse,” an online language business offering more than 18 languages.
During 2020, I began exploring intuitive abstract art. Using acrylics, photography, and digital techniques, I captured my experiences, infusing resilience, growth, and healing into my art. Each stroke and click remind me of how life’s journey has molded my artistic expression. I am grateful to share my work and its narratives, reflecting my unique perspective and the strength discovered in my journey.

STATEMENT
As I move through the world, I’m often captivated by profound beauty, moments I yearn to translate into enduring art. Growing up, witnessing the Berlin Wall’s fall in my hometown significantly impacted me. The graffiti art on its western side, resounding with anger and hope, left a lasting impression, guiding my artistic sensibilities.
Driven by authenticity, my aim is to create art marked by vivid, expressive images, intense colors, and dynamic lines, evoking strong emotions. This quest involves an exploration and a meticulous process, where I explore the mystical by manipulating light and shadow. I infuse depth into my work by incorporating symbols and archetypes that may hold deep psychological and cultural significance for the viewer.
Throughout this journey, various mediums inspire me. Traditional photography, acrylic painting, digital art, and even platforms like Instagram have been key to my artistic growth. I currently emphasize abstract art, a potent outlet for strong emotions and a tool for achieving mental balance. Moreover, the natural beauty of my home in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire continually fuels my creativity. The vibrancy in my work is a testament to my desire to live passionately and authentically, a message I hope to convey to my audience.
I see art as healing and nourishing. My creations are intended to help viewers connect with not only the world’s beauty but also their own inner lives and emotions. I hope that through this connection, I can create a deeper appreciation for the inherent splendor that envelops us all.
