BIOGRAPHY
Carlos Rueda is a visual artist. His practice focuses primarily on oil and acrylic painting. Drawn to the materiality and flexibility of oil, his process relies on layering, gesture, and subtle tonal contrasts to build depth and atmosphere. His work explores the dialogue between the organic and the urban, revealing the quiet presence of nature within the city. Series such as Spring emerge from walks through marketplaces and urban spaces, where overlooked flora appears as a vibrant burst of color against the neutrality of the built environment. More than depicting places, his painting proposes a pause: an invitation to look again, to contemplate, and to breathe the city.

STATEMENT
Painting has been present from the beginning, before any formal training or definition. The act of placing color onto a surface has always been a natural form of thinking and exploration. Today, I continue this search through oil and acrylic, working with layers, gesture, and materiality, allowing the image to emerge through the process. My interest lies in the dialogue between the organic and the urban, understanding painting as a space for observation, contemplation, and presence amid the speed of contemporary life. I am continually drawn to learning new techniques and engaging with the work of other artists, seeing each place I visit as an opportunity to expand my practice and explore how far painting can take me.
