BIOGRAPHY

Annette Girke is a German artist living and working south of Munich. After a short career as an international product manager for a fashion company she started to work with clay, papier mâché and bronce. Her sculpture motives are mostly humans, animals in motion or in specific situations and organic shapes. She admires sculptures made by Constantin Brâncusi, Eduardo Chillida and Fernando Botero. Annette is also a painter, doing large figurative but not photorealistic pictures mostly in acryl.

– 2019 winner of the art price of the town of Starnberg, featuring a 2-year artist-in-residence program

– 2016 graduation from the private academie of visual arts, Kolbermoor, as a master-class-student of the worldwide successful German artist Markus Lüpertz

– several exhibitions in gallerys, government buildings and on art faires in Berlin, Salzburg (Austria), Munich, Hamburg and Düsseldorf.

STATEMENT

My works are based on inspiring situations. I am always trying to find the different unusual view on things. This you can find in my sculptures as well as in my paintings. To me, a good idea coming along with craftmanship are substructure for my works. People say my works have a positive charisma.
