« Nuit blanche» is a politically engaged painting, with collages from newspaper using striking words to raise awarness about global warming and overpopulation. The overall feeling is quite striking, using black and white contrasts to express both eco anxiety and hope but also emptiness compared to fullness. The title is a play of words in French as NUIT (night) and BLANCHE (white) decribes poetically nights you can t sleep. Which happened a lot to the artist during summer and September 2022 – a period when there were great fires at Bassin d’Arcachon in France and nearby due to extreme temperatures.
