Laniakea 1

I started a series about planets – other planets, fresh new planets, inspired by young people looking for planet b because of climate problems. With interference acrylic I found a very very bright acrylic that only works on black materials. So I started with some planets on black paper. I called the series Laniakea – the Hawaiian name for “open skies” or “immense heaven”, known as the galaxy supercluster that is home to the Milky Way.

Interference acrylic changes its icy and cool impression depending on your point of perspective. To bring Laniakea more stable into the world it is laminated on mdf, mounted on the back with frame and hanger.
