The women’s portraits of Academic Realism, in classic/antique clothing, represent an idealized, romantic and intact world. As a result, they radiate longing and melancholy, which Anja Wülfing surrounds with oppositional, abstract elements and geometric forms. She sews together fine and coarse canvas fabrics and then paints classic elements in oil and the abstract ones with acrylics, pencils and markers. The painter works with oppositional contrasts in composition and color.
