I believe that there is beauty in death just as there is in life. This photograph was to encompass the result of all things gone ablaze. When everything turns to ash. This combination of ash, fall colors and fire has a certain appeal to me.

Making this required me to go to a wide range of forests or parks to find leaves of a wide variety, but I had to find ones that had a good change in color in the fall. So, I could only do this piece late September to early October. Then, using these leaves I burn the off ones and keep the colorful ones mostly singed free. The main thing is the sense of atmosphere as if after the blaze.
