BIOGRAPHY

Vibeke Haferbier is born and raised in Denmark. She has always been creative, doing drawings, watercolors and paintings. She attended and completed Randers Art Academy in 2000. For a number of years, she taught art. Recently she started to exhibit her own work.
Vibeke does different art forms and works with different materials such as ink, watercolor, pencil and acrylic paint. She often expresses herself in mixed media.

STATEMENT

Vibeke is inspired by people, the world around us, nature and the things, that immediately catches her attention.
In some of her work we see myriads of faces melted together into one big mosaic. The faces do not depict specific people but rather humanity as a whole. She lets the individual pieces show without offering an explanation or a title. That way the spectator views the piece unbiased and has to do their own interpretation. When the faces are drawn, Vibeke flips the canvas during the entire process, so there is no up, down, left or right. This process makes the drawings dynamic, insistent and relevant.
