BIOGRAPHY

Oussema Dhahbi, is a self-taught abstract painter, based in Montreal.

Born in Tunisia, in 1993.

He discovered his passion for abstract art when he first moved to Montreal in 2018 to study web design, then started practicing abstract painting during the time of the pandemic.

Going out of his comfort zone, being part of a new culture, and his attempt to change his life career has inspired him to dig deeply into discovering his inner creative being and exploring the captivating realm of abstract expressionism.

Driven by a profound passion for self-expression and a fascination towards the diversity of the human experience, Oussema channels his innermost thoughts and life experiences onto the canvas, expressing what he cannot communicate with words, inviting viewers to delve into the depths of consciousness. His art serves as a visual diary, capturing the essence of his emotions and interpreting the beauty in the world around him.

Oussema’s artistic journey is a continuous exploration of self and the world, seeking to capture moments of introspection, contemplation, and transcendence; bridging the gap between the tangible and the intangible.

STATEMENT

I’ve always been fascinated by the magic of coincidence and the power of the present moment. My process is based on these two notions which I consider as an important path for tuning into the subconscious mind and expressing my inner creative being.

My paintings are a result of my attempt to reveal the link between the material and spiritual dimensions and continuously discover the synchronicity between them. Through the use of color, texture, and movement, I am constantly pushing my boundaries by experimenting with different mediums and techniques, using whatever tools are accessible to me, in order to express what I cannot communicate with words, and invite viewers to delve into the depth of consciousness.
