BIOGRAPHY

Moisés Valdivieso is a Spanish self-taught oil painting artist who lives in Vigo.

He was born and raised in Ibi, a small industrial village near Alicante, a place that was the leader of the children’s toy industry for many years.

The plastic injection machinery colors but also the vivid color of toy plastic pieces will have a durable impact on his work.

This influence can be also perceived in the way he approaches forms, construction block playing, volumes, and the way they interact in a way that invites to play in an almost innocent way.

Moisés has been combining his passion for painting with his career as a shoe designer and creative team management for big international fashion brands.

This will later impact his art in the way he builds his color palettes, but it goes deeper in the conversation as he finds there is a shared mindset in terms of the creative process working between both worlds, fashion, and art. At the end of the day, we feel, think, talk, and work around the color, shape, proportions, movement, and balance of the outcome.

Mid-century architecture and brutalism are other strong forces of inspiration that can be traced in his work.

These days Moisés is full-time dedicated to oil painting, slowly working around a creative universe where he builds his paintings hoping they will work as “safe places” in contrast to the complex and tense world we are living in.

CV

These past years Moisés has been working around commissions for private collectors and collaborations with architecture and interior design professionals.

This is the first time he has exhibited his work to wider public audiences.
