BIOGRAPHY
Michael Weingart, aka Mischka (*1991, Kaliningrad) is a multimedia artist from Berlin. During his product design education he developed a preference for experimenting and combining different materials – such as acrylic glass, concrete and tape. He always tries to explore the unique qualities and possibilities of each material. His works tell unique stories and invite the spectator to question their own position. In doing so, he expands the boundaries of art by using everyday objects and non-artistic materials.
Today, his works deal with the question of the perception of the individual and factors that can influence this.

STATEMENT
Michael Weingart’s works are exploring the theme of perception and a distorted reality. He experiments with the materials acrylic glass and PET. Optical filters are created through the targeted thermoplastic moulding of transparent plastics.
The interplay of the optical effect with the translucent element of light creates a distortion of the real environment behind the filter. The deformed material redirects the light along its path. This creates a transformation of the perceived reality. This technique can also be used as a projection filter. The shadow created by the transformation of the The shadows cast by the transformation of the rays of light create immersive worlds and plays of light.
With his works, Michael Weingart addresses the transformation of modern times through the and cross-cultural achievements of the digital world. He also attempts to analyse the dangers and challenges of digital sensory overload artistically. His works invite to question one’s own perception. They confront the individual with the obligation to use the media with care.
