STATEMENT

Mark Lifvendahl is a self-taught artist living in Sonoma County California.
Motivated by color, form and composition, Mark constantly challanges himself to push his techniques and quality of art to new standards. Being self-taught liberates Mark from any pretaught and preconceived ideas of what should and what should not be created.
Over the years, Mark has experimented with many techniques, tools, styles and materials, but he always seems to return to the bright, works which have come to define his art. From the day he first started painting, Mark has relied on practice, experimentation and hard work to guide and inspire him towards creating successful works of art. Many hundreds of paintings later, he has developed a technique and style which are unique and easily recognizable.
Mark’s paintings have an organic, fantasy-like feeling which remind the viewer of other-worldly, underwatery fantastical places. Influences of the surreal and realism can also be seen in Mark’s sometimes splashy art. High quality art materials are used for his paintings and they are built to last for many generations to come.
