BIOGRAPHY
Mahra Khalid is an Emirati abstract artist and Bachelor of Science in Multimedia Design graduate, based in Dubai. With a passion for creative expression that has flourished over the past five years, she began her artistic journey working with acrylics, a medium she continues to use extensively alongside oil pastels. Driven by a curiosity to explore new methods, Mahra experiments with watercolor, charcoal, printmaking, and sculpting, constantly evolving her craft.
Her work is deeply influenced by music, the emotions it evokes, and the people and surroundings that shape her perspective. A distinctive part of her process involves randomly selecting a song from her instrumental playlist and letting the music dictate the colors and mood of her work. This organic interplay between sound and visual art creates pieces that feel emotionally resonant and authentic.
Mahra connects with her audience by sharing her paintings alongside the music that inspired them, encouraging viewers to experience her art through their own interpretations. She values the diversity of perspectives that abstract art invites and often asks her audience to name her paintings, finding joy in how others view and interpret her work. While each piece carries her own story, Mahra embraces the unique meanings her audience brings to her creations.

STATEMENT
My best pieces come to life when I let go of any plan and just let my emotions take over. Guided by music and inspired by my surroundings, I trust my instincts and allow each painting to unfold naturally, embracing spontaneity to create deeply expressive and authentic works of art.
