BIOGRAPHY
Born in Erice on 01/20/1971, she lives and works in San Vito Lo Capo, a small fishing village. By choice he prefers to live in contact with nature, painting outside in his garden.
Nature, history, are the materials that Joetta Savona feels intensely: she manipulates them and transforms them into creative and aesthetic events.
His works are configured by material thicknesses, defining an entirely internal corporeality and pictorial sensitivity. For Joetta Savona time is not Western time, but that of waiting and elsewhere. The canvas becomes a circularity through which pass: nature, the fragments of everyday life; it is a place that investigates the distance between metropolitan man and history, between metropolitan man and space. His works are territories of resistance and borders, whose sensitivity sediments and layers different languages: organic substances, emotions, vibrations, chromatic tones, x-ray plates, all poured onto the canvas.
The work becomes a “corpus” where the color refers us to a biological memory, the x-ray plate to a prosthesis of a human body.
To a fast and technological present, he opposes the rhythms of nature and time, of research and breathing.

Qualifications: 1989 Artistic high school diploma from the Andrea Carreca Art School in Trapani. 1993 Graduated from the Palermo Academy of Fine Arts.

STATEMENT
Being a Painter is not a profession, but a vocation.
Painting is something you feel inside, it is part of your life, of your being, with it you have a direct, pure, sincere, uncompromising relationship.
I don’t like being pigeonholed into an artistic movement, I learn and look at past and contemporary masters with great humility.
A painter doesn’t have to worry about creating something new, if you think about the technique, the poetry is over.
