BIOGRAPHY

Eva Davidová, a graduate of Central Saint Martins in London, is an experienced illustrator, artist and designer. She has collaborated with many start-ups, painted traditional signs over London shops and created the visual identity of bands. “All my exhibitions are linked, as their theme of exploring PATTERN remains the same. However, here I am mainly following up on my second exhibition in London called Traveling Patterns,” and the following exhibitions at the Czech National Bank, the Solidet gallery in Prague and the Rubikon gallery in Olomouc,” adds Eva Davidová.

Eva explores patterns, their origin and meaning in her work. Patterns are ubiquitous in nature and human activity, and Eva captures them in her line drawings using ink and water. She finds inspiration in nature, graffiti and Japanese woodcuts, but also in traditional patterns on porcelain and ceramics from the 6th century in China. She works with ink and water on paper and her work reflects the ephemerality and changeability of patterns.

In addition to her own work, Eva collaborates with the Zlín Film Festival and recently started a collaboration with the Czech bicycle manufacturer Festka, for which she painted a bicycle by hand during the Design block Prague.

STATEMENT

I work as a designer as well as an artist. I put same effort in both as I believe both practices inform each other and move me forward. I love to create on my own, create narratives and characters I have never seen before or to create new meaning out of things that I have seen already. I like to create an entirely different world where my characters live. to create for me is a form of meditation and escape, a necessity. I also love to work with people on their projects, I help to draw stories for them or bring out their imagination.
