BIOGRAPHY

Eiko Tabata is a self-taught realism painter born and raised in Hokkaido, Japan—a region known for its majestic mountains, expansive forests, and rich wildlife. From an early age, she was captivated by anime and spent countless hours drawing animals and characters, dreaming of becoming an anime artist.

Her adventurous childhood—biking around Mt. Yotei, hiking local peaks, and skiing through long winters—deepened her bond with the natural world. These early experiences left a lasting impression, shaping the way she sees and paints the world today.

Eiko rediscovered her creative passion later in life through a spontaneous paint night. Since then, painting has become her calling. Using vivid color and expressive detail, she creates landscapes and seascapes that reflect both memory and emotion. Her work is a celebration of the quiet, enduring beauty of nature—particularly the landscapes of Hokkaido—and an invitation to pause, reflect, and reconnect with the world around us.

STATEMENT

Nature is a powerful force—beautiful, healing, and humbling. It offers us so much, and I believe that when we treat it with care and respect, it gives back in quiet, wondrous ways. My work is a reflection of that exchange. I draw inspiration from nature’s many moods, capturing its warmth and vitality through expressive brushwork and vivid color. Each piece is created with intention, using just a few mixed mediums to let the moment guide me. Through my art, I hope to uplift, inspire, and remind us of the magic that surrounds us every day.
