BIOGRAPHY

For me, textiles command an exciting, transformative space on the artistic spectrum—at the juncture of fine arts and craft, display and functionality, contemporary and classic, personal expression and public commentary. My point on that spectrum is minimalism. And I am fascinated by the drama, serenity, and whimsicality that minimalism can elicit from the interplay of geometric shapes, streamlined design,
and hard-edge color.

STATEMENT

I am a modern quilter with a minimalist sensibility and a passion for geometry. Arcs, circles, rectangles, squares, lines, triangles—especially triangles—for me, there’s nothing more compelling than those pure forms. I use those shapes to create abstract compositions across my quilts, often with improvisational construction techniques. I work in series that I call minimalist geometry, mostly monochrome, and abstract geographies, among others. I find this approach sharpens my focus, deepens my sense of play, and helps me stick with an iterative succession of experiments.
